Position Title: Advanced Imaging Technologist Job Group: Professional & Scientific Required Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree or equivalent certification in a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accredited program and one year of related experience. Certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Radiography (ARRT) (R). Possession of current Iowa Permit to Practice. If so, the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center (LVMC) in Iowa State University's College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking an Advanced Imaging Technologist to join our Radiology team! This is a unique opportunity for an imaging professional to apply advanced imaging skills in a dynamic veterinary teaching hospital while working with a wide variety of patients, including exotics, companion animals, equine patients, and food animal species. The LVMC provides specialized medical and surgical care to patients throughout Iowa and the surrounding region. Our clinicians, residents, interns, veterinary technicians, imaging professionals, staff, and veterinary students work collaboratively to provide high-quality, state-of-the-art patient care 24 hours a day. What You'll Do: The Advanced Imaging Technologist independently performs and supports a variety of advanced imaging procedures, including Radiography, Fluoroscopy, Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and Nuclear Medicine. Working collaboratively with radiologists, clinicians, veterinary technicians, anesthesia personnel, students, and other hospital teams, this position produces high-quality diagnostic studies and adapts imaging techniques, protocols, and patient positioning to meet the unique needs of various species, anatomy, clinical conditions, and patient sizes while supporting efficient patient care throughout the imaging process. Additional Responsibilities: This position also contributes to the continued quality and development of the Radiology service by:

• Operating and maintaining complex diagnostic imaging equipment.
• Evaluating image quality and making appropriate technical adjustments to optimize diagnostic studies.
• Maintaining quality-control standards in accordance with hospital, departmental, and radiation-safety requirements.
• Assisting with equipment troubleshooting and preventative maintenance to minimize interruptions to patient care.
• Communicating effectively with clinicians and hospital services to coordinate imaging needs and priorities.
• Training and providing guidance to new employees, veterinary students, and others rotating through the Radiology service.
• Contributing to workflow improvements and a collaborative, team-oriented work environment. Who We Are Looking For : The successful candidate will be a self-motivated and adaptable imaging professional who is comfortable working independently while also collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary veterinary team. This position requires strong technical judgment, attention to detail, organization, and the ability to adjust quickly to changing patient and hospital needs. We are looking for someone who brings professional maturity, strong communication skills, and a positive approach to teamwork. The ideal candidate enjoys sharing their knowledge with others and is comfortable providing instruction and guidance to employees and veterinary students. Because our patients cannot always understand or cooperate with imaging procedures in the same way human patients can, patience, adaptability, creative problem-solving, and an interest in working with animals are particularly valuable in this role. Preferred Qualifications:
• Registration through ARRT in Computed Tomography (CT) and/or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
• Experience performing CT, MRI, radiography, fluoroscopy, nuclear medicine, or other advanced imaging procedures.
• Experience working with or handling animals.
• Experience training, mentoring, or providing technical guidance to others. The scheduled work hours will generally be Monday through Friday during regular daytime business hours, with rotating weekday and weekend on-call responsibilities.
