• Informatics and ADPAC (Automated Data Processing Application Coordinator) functions across ICVAHCS service lines and may contribute at Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) and national levels. CORE FUNCTIONS: Informatics and ADPAC: Plans, coordinates, and manages medication-related data, pharmacy information systems, and automation to support safe, effective, and efficient patient care and outcomes. Serves as an ad hoc, non-voting member of the Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) Medication Safety Subcommittee. Research: Plans, coordinates, and manages the Pharmacy Investigational Drug Service (IDS). May serve as Chair of the P&T Subcommittee for Review of Investigational Studies and as a voting member of an Institutional Review Board (IRB) and the Research & Development (R&D) Committee. Reporting and Other Duties: Prepares updates and reports for appropriate forums and performs other duties as assigned.

Functions or Scope of Assigned

DUTIES: Clinical

• Indirect Patient Care Activities Maintains training and competency to perform at a GS-12 Clinical Pharmacist level. Is knowledgeable about operations across all pharmacy areas. Understands system-wide policies and procedures related to the medication-use process (ordering, preparation, dispensing, administration). May shadow pharmacists or intermittently staff inpatient or outpatient areas to assess how software and automation affect workflows and end users. Performs controlled substance vault inventory and accountability duties if assigned. Program Management and Governance Quality and Reliability: Implements best practices and innovations. Aligns operations with High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles. Digital Enablement: Encourages adoption of VA electronic resources. Maximizes available capabilities. Communications: Effectively disseminates information via daily huddles, monthly newsletters, and quarterly meetings ("Pharmacy Extravaganza"). Committees and Workgroups: Serves on ICVAHCS committees and workgroups as requested and may serve at VISN or national levels. Reports back to pharmacy leadership. Policy Adherence: Complies with all ICVAHCS and department policies and procedures. Reporting and Deadlines: Prepares reports and responds to information requests before applicable deadlines. Pharmacy Informatics and ADPAC Systems Ownership: Manages medication-related data and pharmacy information systems across ICVAHCS and Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). Automation Oversight: Manages software and hardware for pharmacy automation to ensure timely, safe, efficacious, and cost-effective services. Availability and Support: Ensures maximum system availability. Provides training; develops and runs reports as needed. Policies and Procedures: Partners with pharmacy leadership to develop and revise policies related to informatics and automation. Proactively identifies and closes gaps. Liaison and Coordination: Serves as liaison to Office of Information and Technology (OIT), Healthcare Technology Management (HTM, "BioMed"), and vendors. Provides front-line technical support. Submits and monitors service tickets. Coordinates installations and support. Integration and Configuration: Ensures systems are integrated and resources optimized. Performs configuration changes to meet evolving initiatives and service needs. Pharmacy Investigational Drug Service Accountability and Dispensing: Safely and accurately manages investigational drugs and supplies (receipt, storage, accountability, dispensing, return or destruction, documentation) using a uniform format. Approvals and Documentation: Verifies all required approvals and documentation prior to dispensing. Regulatory Readiness: Ensures compliance with internal and external regulatory and accreditation bodies. Maintains continuous audit readiness. Represents pharmacy during audits and site visits. Stakeholder Requests: Responds to inquiries from investigators, sponsors, and regulatory bodies before applicable deadlines. Protocol Review and Feasibility: Reviews proposed protocols for ICVAHCS suitability and pharmacy supportability. Negotiates procedures acceptable to the Associate Chief of Staff for Research & Development (ACOS/R&D), Chief of Pharmacy Service, and the principal investigator. Education Develops and presents educational materials (handouts, outlines, flowsheets, lectures) to pharmacy staff, providers, nurses, and allied health professionals on medication data and processes. Assists with EHR instruction. Contributes to standardized and vetted orientation and training plans for all new pharmacy employees. Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday through Friday, 8:00am

English Language Proficiency: Pharmacists must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), and 7407(d) Education: Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited College or School of Pharmacy with a baccalaureate degree in pharmacy (BS Pharmacy) and/or a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree. Graduates of foreign pharmacy degree programs meet the educational requirement if the graduate is able to provide proof of achieving the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Commission (FPGEC) Certification, which includes passing the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE) and the Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-Based Test (TOEFL iBT) Licensure: Full, current and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (i.e., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia. Exception. Non-licensed pharmacists who otherwise meet the eligibility requirements may be given a temporary appointment at the entry level as a Graduate Pharmacist under the authority of 38 U.S.C. § 7405(c)(2)(B). The appointing official may waive the requirement of licensure for a period not to exceed 2 years for a pharmacist that provides care under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. For grade levels above the GS-11, the candidate must be licensed. NOTE: Individuals who have or have had multiple licenses and had any such license revoked for professional misconduct, professional incompetence or substandard care, or who surrendered such license after receiving written notice of potential termination of such license by the State for professional misconduct, professional incompetence, or substandard care, are not eligible for appointment to the position unless such revoked or surrendered license is fully restored (38 U.S.C. § 7402(f)). Effective November 30, 1999, this is a requirement for employm
