Job Description The University of Nevada, Reno’s Counseling Services is seeking applications for two Administrative Assistant 2 positions.***This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding.** The Administrative Assistant 2 provides front desk and administrative support to Counseling Services and serves as a primary point of contact for students seeking services. Responsibilities include answering multi-line phones, scheduling appointments, checking in clients, assisting with urgent and crisis walk-ins, and explaining Counseling Services to students and campus community members. Additional duties include scanning confidential records, data entry, typing and filing documents, maintaining office areas, shredding confidential materials, assisting clinicians with groups and outreach activities, and completing evening office closing procedures. The position requires strict adherence to confidentiality, strong attention to detail, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently in a busy environment. The employee may encounter individuals experiencing emotional distress or mental health crises. Training and staff support are provided.

- Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two (2) years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff; OR
- One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in customer service work and/or reception
- Experience and/or training to work with potentially stressful situations and/or persons in crisis.
- Ability to handle multiple job assignments and strong organizational skills.
- Skill in using Microsoft programs.
- Must be able to multi-task and work well independently and in a group. Schedule The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. Compensation Grade Grade 25 (Entry, Step 01 $20.42/hr.) In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
