Summary You will serve as a Biologist Fish and Wildlife Service, Colorado Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office. GS-09 $63,351 - $82,362 per annum GS-11: $76,650-$99,650 per annum First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate. Duties Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Independently plan, coordinate, oversee, and evaluate complex or large-scale resource management projects and contracts, ensuring effective implementation and achievement of established forestry, ecological, conservation, land management, and/or risk-reduction objectives. Represent organizational interests in regional and landscape-scale natural resource, forestry, conservation, land management, watershed, fire, or related initiatives and coordinate with Federal, State, Tribal, local, nongovernmental, and other partners. Develop, implement, and update comprehensive natural resource, forestry, conservation, land management, or ecological plans and strategies to promote resource health, ecological function, sustainability, and organizational management objectives. Provide technical expertise and coordinate the work of support staff, interdisciplinary teams, contractors, and partners in implementing an integrated natural resource or forestry management program. Evaluate resource conditions and complex forestry or natural resource management needs; analyze technical information and develop management strategies and recommendations addressing resource protection, restoration, risk reduction, sustainability, watershed function, habitat values, fire management, or other program priorities. Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level. Qualifications All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-10/13/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications: Basic Educational Requirement AND Specialized Experience for the series to which you are applying. Basic Educational Requirement: A. Degree: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. You must submit transcripts.

Combination of education and experience: course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. -AND- To qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level: A. Experience: To qualify, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility equivalent to grade GS-07 in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Examples of qualifying specialized experience includes: 1) assisting with planning and implementing natural resource or environmental projects. 2) Helping develop or update resource management plans or strategies. 3) Monitoring and coordinating projects or contracts, tracking progress, and identifying issues. 4) Working with Federal, State, Tribal, local, or non-governmental partners on resource-related activities.-OR- B, Education: Successful completion of at least two years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree in wildlife biology, ecology, or a directly related field appropriate to this position. Transcripts must be provided -OR- C. Combination of education and experience as described in 1 and 2 above which together equals 100% of the requirement. -AND/OR- To qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level: A. Experience: To qualify, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility equivalent to grade GS-09 in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Examples of qualifying specialized experience includes: 1) Independently planning and implementing complex or large-scale natural resource or forestry projects. 2) Developing and updating comprehensive management plans and strategies. 3) Leading or overseeing complex projects and/or contracts from planning through evaluation. 4) Representing the organization in regional or landscape-scale initiatives with multiple partners and ability to brief leadership on complex issues. 5) Providing technical expertise and coordinating interdisciplinary teams, contractors, or support staff. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- B. Education: Successful completion of at least a Ph.D. or equivalent degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or equivalent doctoral degree in wildlife biology, ecology, or a directly related field appropriate to this position. (Three years of graduate education is 54 semester hours or 81 quarter hours). Transcripts must be provided. -OR- C. Combination: A combination of education and experience as described in 1 and 2 above which together equals 100% of the requirement. Only education beyond the second graduate year (36 semesters) is creditable to meet this standard. You must include hours per week worked and transcripts. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education This position has a mandatory education requirement. You must submit a copy of your transcript(s) to support claimed education if substituting education for experience. Transcripts must include your name, school name, grades, credit hours earned, major(s), grade point average or class ranking, and date the degree was conferred, if applicable.
