AWS Engineer – Cloud Architecture, Migration, Terraform/CloudFormation & Hybrid Infrastructure

Job Summary Synechron is seeking a Senior AWS Engineer with 8–15+ years of IT infrastructure and cloud experience, including at least 5 years of hands-on AWS architecture and migration experience. The role will focus on designing, migrating, implementing, and supporting secure, scalable, and resilient cloud infrastructure solutions.The successful candidate will apply expertise across enterprise data center infrastructure, Windows and Linux administration, networking, infrastructure as code, database migrations, application workloads, scripting, and monitoring. This role will contribute to business objectives by enabling reliable cloud adoption, improving infrastructure efficiency, reducing operational risk, and supporting sustainable technology delivery. Software Requirements Required

• 8–15+ years of experience in IT infrastructure and cloud engineering.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS architecture and migration projects.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise data center infrastructure.
• Expertise in Windows and Linux administration.
• Experience supporting or migrating IBM WebSphere, .NET, Java, and Node.js workloads.
• Experience with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server migrations.
• Strong networking knowledge, including:
• DNS
• Routing
• Firewalls
• Load balancers
• VPN
• Direct Connect
• Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using CloudFormation and/or Terraform.
• Familiarity with scripting using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.

• Ability to work with current, supported versions of AWS services, operating systems, infrastructure tools, scripting languages, databases, and monitoring platforms. Preferred
• Experience designing hybrid and multi-environment cloud architectures.

• Experience with automated infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment pipelines.
• Familiarity with containerized application workloads and orchestration platforms.
• Experience with infrastructure security, resilience, disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity.
• Exposure to cloud cost management, resource optimization, and sustainable infrastructure practices.
• Relevant AWS, cloud infrastructure, networking, security, or automation certifications. Overall Responsibilities
• Design and implement secure, scalable, highly available, and maintainable AWS infrastructure solutions.
• Lead or contribute to migration initiatives involving enterprise data center infrastructure, application workloads, and databases.
• Assess existing infrastructure and workloads to define migration approaches, dependencies, risks, sequencing, and target-state architecture.
• Support the migration of IBM WebSphere, .NET, Java, and Node.js workloads to appropriate AWS environments.
• Plan and execute Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server migrations while maintaining data integrity, availability, performance, and operational continuity.
• Administer and troubleshoot Windows and Linux environments across enterprise and cloud infrastructure.
• Design and support network connectivity, including DNS, routing, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, and Direct Connect.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using CloudFormation and/or Terraform.
• Create scripts using PowerShell, Bash, or Python to automate infrastructure operations, validation, deployment, and support activities.
• Implement monitoring and observability solutions to track system health, performance, availability, capacity, and operational events.
• Collaborate with application, database, security, networking, operations, and architecture teams to deliver integrated technology solutions.
• Produce technical designs, migration plans, operational procedures, architecture documentation, and implementation records.
• Identify and resolve infrastructure, connectivity, migration, performance, and availability issues.
• Apply security, compliance, resilience, cost-efficiency, and sustainability considerations throughout the infrastructure lifecycle.
• Contribute to strategic objectives by improving cloud adoption, operational reliability, automation, scalability, and infrastructure standardization. Performance Outcomes

• Experience developing reusable automation modules and operational utilities.
• Familiarity with scripting standards, version control, testing, error handling, and secure secrets management. Databases/Data Management Essential
• Experience planning and executing Oracle migrations.
• Experience planning and executing Microsoft SQL Server migrations.
• Understanding of database migration dependencies, compatibility, performance, backup, recovery, validation, and cutover processes.
• Ability to support data integrity, availability, and controlled access during migration and post-migration operations. Preferred
• Experience with database modernization and cloud-based database deployment models.
• Familiarity with replication, migration assessment, performance tuning, disaster recovery, and rollback planning.

• Familiarity with containers, serverless services, managed services, and cloud-native application patterns.
