• Carer Recruitment & Placements, you'll play an important role in finding, assessing and supporting people who can provide safe, nurturing homes for children and young people who need them. From supporting prospective carers through recruitment and assessment to responding to placement requests and matching children with suitable carers, your work will help create strong foundations for children, young people and families. Your opportunity Working within our Foster Care, Adoption and Family Support (FAF) team, you'll support prospective carers through the journey from initial enquiry through to assessment and authorisation. You'll undertake thorough assessments of foster and dually-authorised carers, drawing on multiple sources of evidence, critical reflection and your professional judgement to assess suitability and support quality decision-making. Your role will also extend into placements. You'll respond to placement enquiries, maintain strong relationships with carers, understand their availability and participate in matching processes to help identify suitable placements for children and young people. With integrity and resilience, you wil l:
• Respond to foster care and adoption enquiries and support prospective carers through all stages of recruitment.
• Complete thorough and timely assessments of foster and dually-authorised carers.
• Undertake relevant probity and suitability checks and develop individual carer support and development plans.
• Respond to placement enquiries and facilitate appropriate placements for children and young people.
• Build strong relationships with carers and maintain regular contact to understand their capacity and availability.
• Participate in matching meetings and contribute professional assessment and judgement to placement decisions.
• Conduct annual carer reviews and contribute to ongoing carer support and development.
• Participate in the on-call roster, professional supervision and ongoing development activities. What you'll brin g You're an experienced child protection or foster care professional who understands that recruiting a carer is about much more than completing an assessment. You'll bring the empathy and sensitivity to build trusting relationships with prospective and existing carers, alongside the analytical and critical-thinking skills required to undertake robust assessments and make sound professional judgements. You're confident navigating complex situations, having difficult conversations and working collaboratively with carers, colleagues and external stakeholders. Most importantly, you understand the importance of safe, thoughtful and well-informed decisions for children and young people. What's required:
• Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Social Sciences, Psychology, Community Services or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years' experience across child protection and foster care services.
• Demonstrated experience undertaking assessments.
• Sound understanding of legislation, policy and processes relating to foster care in NSW.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Well-developed analytical, critical-thinking and assessment capability.
• Current NSW Driver's Licence.
• Ability to meet Anglicare's probity requirements, including a Police Check and Working with Children Check. Why Anglicare?
