Job Description University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for the Black Rock Press Fellowship. This nine-month appointment offers an artist working in fine press printing, publication arts, and/or book arts, the opportunity to work within an established academic press, develop a new body of work, and engage a public audience. The fellowship runs Jan through Sept 2027 and unfolds in three distinct phases, structured to support both professional development and the creation of a new editioned work. A special word of gratitude to the Nell J. Redfield Foundation, whose philanthropy over the years has uplifted Black Rock Press at UNR. Responsibilities

• In the Spring 2027 semester (January-May), fellow will reach one book arts course within the department and contribute to active academic program for the department and students
• In the Summer 2027 session (June-August), fellow will assist with Black Rock Press facilities to develop and produce a new editioned work of their own design
• In September 2027, fellow will present their work at a public artist talk highlighting their practice and work during residency. Candidate will also have to conduct a public workshop in Black Rock Press, tailored to their specialty and interests in book arts, printing, and publication. Studio Equipment Provided

• Candidate must have knowledge and strong skills in book arts and/or fine press printing, with emphasis on concept, design, and craft.
• Candidate must have prior letterpress, book editioning, and/or fine printing experience
• Candidate must have exceptional craftmanship and artistic vision
• Candidate must be a permanent U.S. resident, current UNR affiliates are not eligible Preferred Qualifications

• 32 hours/weekly Compensation Grade LOA Salaried, Part-Time Over a nine-month period, total salary: $39,330 The candidate will receive a stipend in paid installments as well as full access to Black Rock Press equipment and facilities throughout the appointment. The fellow is responsible for personal housing, travel, and materials costs.
