[](<>)The Max-Planck-Institute for Physics is engaged in fundamental research in particle and astroparticle physics from both experimental and theoretical perspectives. One main research activity is the participation in the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. We invite applications for a postdoctoral position (f/m/d) in experimental particle physics within the ATLAS muon and gaseous detector group. The group has contributed decisively to the design and construction of the ATLAS muon spectrometer and plays as a strong role in the upgrades of the muon detector and trigger system for High-Luminosity LHC. These activities are supported by mechanical and electronics engineering departments and workshops. Our ATLAS upgrade projects comprise the assembly, installation, and commissioning of small diameter drift-tube and resistive plate chambers. In addition, we are developing gaseous detectors and electronics for future colliders. Our ATLAS data analysis program concentrates on measurements of Higgs boson properties and on searches for new physics beyond the Standard Model. The successful candidate is expected to play leading roles in the installation and commissioning of the muon drift-tube and resistive plate chambers for the upgrade of the ATLAS muon spectrometer for HL-LHC. The candidate is invited to participate in the detector and front-end electronics developments for beyond the HL-LHC upgrade. There will also be opportunities to participate in the ATLAS data analysis and in teaching at the university. A PhD in particle physics and experience with the operation of particle detectors is required. Salary and benefits are according to the German public service pay scale (TVöD Bund).
