• Licensed Practical Nurse: Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Major Duties and Responsibilities: Performs, documents, and reports assigned nursing care, including non-invasive procedures (such as dressing changes, routine nail/foot care, debridement of nails, corns, calluses; blister, wound care).Possess and applies a comprehensive working knowledge of the principles, art, and science of practical nursing. Assists Podiatrist with minor procedures, ensuring patient safety, position, comfort, and privacy. Recognizes and responds promptly to urgent or emergent care situations; seeks guidance and escalates care as needed. Monitors and documents change in patient conditions and response to care. Notifies provider of significant findings. Prepares and administers prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous) according to policy; observes for and reports adverse reactions. Evaluates and records nursing interventions, ensuring timely and complete data collection, including CPT/ICD coding. Follows infection control, safety, and universal precaution protocols. Provides health education to patients and families on preventive care, self-management, and wellness, supporting patient-driven individualized care plans. Advocates for patient and family rights; maintains confidentiality of all patient information. Demonstrates respect for diversity in all patient and staff interactions. Independently manages their own PAVE clinic and coordinates care for assigned patients in accordance with PAVE certification requirements. Manages workload, adjusts priorities based on dynamic clinic needs, while maintaining established patient care timelines and satisfaction. Schedules and coordinates appointments according to VHA directives and established business rules, utilizing Electronic Wait List as appropriate. Ensures exam and treatment rooms are stocked with necessary supplies and equipment. Checks expiration dates, disposes of expired items, and dates medications upon opening. Performs pre-cleaning and appropriate handling of reusable medical equipment. Participates in quality improvement activities, data reporting, and ongoing education requirements. Adheres to all policy and procedures relating to patient care, safety, infection control, and emergency preparedness. Maintains a professional attitude, communicates effectively, and demonstrates teamwork and adaptability. Completes mandatory training, reviews, motivational interviewing, and continuing education to remain current in clinical practice. The LPN functions both independently and collaboratively as a PAVE certified member of the Podiatry/PAVE healthcare team, ensuring delivery of efficient, high-quality, safe, and patient-centered care in accordance with VA standards.
