The Role Vice President, Consumer Insights & Analytics Reports to : SVP Enterprise Strategy, Insights & Technology The VP of Consumer Insights & Analytics is a key contributor to enterprise decision-making through deep understanding of consumers, shoppers, markets, and business performance. This role is being created to further the enterprise’s evolution toward a consumer-first mindset. The role brings an external, objective perspective that shapes where the company chooses to play, how it wins, and where it invests. You are not just a reporter of data; you are a predictive strategist who helps the SVP Enterprise Strategy & CEO see around corners. The mandate extends beyond leading research to influencing how Honest operates by integrating consumer understanding, marketplace dynamics, and commercial performance across the enterprise. Accountabilities

  • Shape Growth: strategy, investment, innovation, portfolio, and M&A
  • Steward Enterprise Intelligence: consumer, marketplace, syndicated data, foresight, and performance
  • Advisor to Investor Relations: counsel CEO, CFO, and IR team factors that drive investor messaging (marketplace performance, economic factors, competitive dynamics, etc.)
  • Oversee Brand Marketing and Equity Research: partner with SVP of Marketing and head of Operating Units to conduct research and understand the performance of marketing and brand executions
  • Ensure Product Portfolio is Built to Perform: collaborate with the product technical team to establish testing and competitive performance practices that support ongoing leadership of The Honest Standard
  • Build Organizational Capability: team leadership, decision quality, consumer-centricity, and executive influence Core Responsibilities
  • Shape Enterprise Growth Strategy: Guide the organization on where future growth will come from by influencing portfolio strategy, brand investment, innovation priorities, category expansion, long-range planning, and core technology roadmaps.
  • Serve as the Voice of the Consumer & Marketplace: Represent external reality in executive decision-making by bringing a deep understanding of consumer behavior, shopper needs, competitive dynamics, and cultural change, while challenging internal assumptions.
  • Anticipate Future Demand: Lead the organization’s evolution from reactive tracking to predictive forecasting. Use advanced analytics, AI, and behavioral data to identify emerging consumer behaviors, market shifts, and competitive disruption before they impact the business.
  • Provide New Category Entry and Innovation Support: Deliver consumer-demand validation and market sizing to evaluate potential category entries, strategic partnerships, and internal growth projects.
  • Steward Enterprise Consumer & Market Intelligence: Partner with Sales, Category Management, Finance, IT, Procurement, and Data Engineering to govern the company’s syndicated data ecosystem (e.g., Circana, Numerator). Integrate disparate data sources (behavioral, transactional, and attitudinal) into a unified enterprise asset. Translate in-market performance into objective business narratives by connecting what is happening with why it is happening.
  • Build Enduring Competitive Advantage: Develop proprietary consumer and market intelligence (demand spaces, behavioral frameworks, segmentation, growth models) built to function as lasting enterprise decision systems.
  • Monitor Brand Health: Track Honest's brand equity, trust, and consumer perception over time (awareness, loyalty, sentiment, and NPS), flagging shifts early so the executive team can respond before they show up in sales.
  • Foster an Organizational Consumer-Centric Mindset: Embed consumer-centered thinking across Marketing, Sales, Product, R&D, Finance, Strategy, and executive leadership, turning consumer understanding into a company-wide competitive capability.
  • Lead and Develop Talent: Build and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of curiosity and commercial acumen.
  • Advise Executive Leadership: Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the CEO, SVP Enterprise Strategy, and business leaders, bringing an integrated perspective on consumers, markets, and business performance to the company’s most consequential decisions. Who You Are (Qualifications)
  • Experience: 15+ years in consumer insights, market research, or strategic planning, including 5+ years in an executive role leading a team.
  • Growth & Commercial Mindset: A track record of translating consumer and market intelligence into measurable commercial impact, growth, and ROI, ideally with direct experience governing syndicated data ecosystems (e.g., Circana, Numerator).
  • The Tech-Strategy Bridge: Proven experience partnering with data engineering, tech infrastructure, or product architecture teams; fluent in predictive analytics, AI, social listening, and telemetry data. You speak both “human” and “data.”
  • Methodology Mastery: Deep expertise across qualitative and quantitative research, behavioral economics, and modern data-stack applications.
  • Executive Presence: Exceptional communication skills with a track record of influencing C-suite executives and board members through compelling storytelling backed by undeniable data.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Statistics, Behavioral Sciences, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred. Compensation The pay range for this role is $235,000 – $274,000. Actual compensation is based on many factors including but not limited to depth of experience, skill level, ability, knowledge, education, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
