Medical Technician (Certified Medical Assistant)

Summary About the Position: Located at Ireland Army Health Clinic, Fort Knox, KY. This position serves as a Medical Technician (Certified Medical Assistant) responsible for clinical and administrative tasks to support doctors, nurses, and patients assisting with direct patient care and administrative tasks associated with patient needs. Core hours: M-F 0730-1600 (excluding Federal Holidays) in a clinical setting. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Duties

• Complete screening of patients for providers to include recording chief complaint, blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, height, weight, electrocardiograms (EKGs), and other moderately complex tests.
• Administer immunizations as ordered and screened by providers.
• Instruct patients and families on various subjects, such as the proper procedure or following receipt of immunization in accordance with established protocols.
• Assist providers with in-clinic procedures, prepares and positions patient, prepares instruments and supplies, hands supplies to provider and cleans instruments according to instructions for use.
• Receive telephone calls, patients, and visitors to the medical facility to determine the nature of the call or visit. Schedule appointments with the appropriate clinic and health care provider.
• Responds and actions patient messages within EMR.
• Perform general maintenance duties including cleaning and arranging supply carts, sorting supplies, instruments and equipment; handling linen according to infection control policies; and cleaning patient units and exam areas as needed. Basic Requirements for Medical Technician (Certified Medical Assistant): Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes direct patient care services such as administering immunizations and medications ordered by the health care providers; collecting patient vital signs data; and utilizing electronic health record systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
