Summary You will serve as a Supervisory Park Ranger (I) with National Park Service. You may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays. You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 1-2 nights per year. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate. Duties Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Directs the overall management of the park's interpretation, education, visitor services, fee collection, and related facilities and programs. Supervises subordinate supervisors and a multidisciplinary permanent and seasonal workforce, including staffing, performance management, employee development, equal employment opportunity, and workplace safety. Plans, develops, integrates, evaluates, and ensures quality control of personal and non-personal interpretive services delivered across multiple visitor facilities. Manages the division's budget and administrative operations, including fiscal controls, procurement, property accountability, and required reporting. Advises park leadership, represents the Superintendent, develops external partnerships, and leads long- and short-range planning for interpretation and visitor services. To qualify for this position at the GS-13 grade level: You must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing at least 3 of the 5 following duties: (1) Leading the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive interpretation, education, or visitor-services program delivered through multiple facilities, sites, or service methods; (2) Supervising or managing a multidisciplinary workforce through subordinate supervisors or team leaders, including assigning work, evaluating performance, addressing conduct or performance issues, supporting employee development, and ensuring workplace safety; (3) Directing the development and quality control of interpretive services, educational programs, exhibits, publications, digital media, or other visitor-facing products, and using evaluation results to improve program effectiveness; (4) Formulating and executing a program budget and overseeing accountable financial operations, including tracking expenditures and administering fee revenue, donations, procurement, property, or comparable financial activities; (5) Representing an organization and coordinating with governmental entities, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, community groups, or other partners to develop joint programs, resolve complex issues, and accomplish organizational goals. You must include hours per week worked. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education This position does not allow substituting education for experience.
