IT Support Specialist (Temporary) Department: Operations Location: Herndon, VA – Hybrid Employment Type: Temporary Reports To: Director, Programs & Compliance / VP Operations Position Summary Four Inc. is seeking a hands-on, service-oriented IT Support Specialist to provide day-to-day technology and systems support for our employees and office. This temporary role will serve as an on-site resource for employee technology needs, including preparing laptops for new hire onboarding, coordinating systems access, troubleshooting hardware and office technology, and managing support requests through our outsourced IT provider. The ideal candidate is organized, responsive, technically capable, and comfortable troubleshooting issues directly while also knowing when to escalate more complex matters to our external IT partner. This role requires strong attention to detail and a customer-service mindset, particularly when supporting employee onboarding, offboarding, and day-to-day technology needs. Essential Responsibilities

  • Prepare company laptops for IT provider provisioning
  • Coordinate technology setup for new hires, including laptops, monitors, peripherals, software, system access, and other required equipment.
  • Support employee offboarding by coordinating the removal of systems access and collection, inventory, and preparation of returned equipment.
  • Set up, modify, and deactivate employee access to company systems and applications in accordance with established processes and approvals.
  • Issue, activate, deactivate, and maintain Datawatch building access cards for employees and other authorized users.
  • Provide hands-on Tier 1 technical support to employees experiencing hardware, software, connectivity, or access issues.
  • Troubleshoot laptops, monitors, docking stations, printers, peripherals, and other office technology.
  • Troubleshoot conference room technology, including displays, cameras, microphones, speakers, and video conferencing equipment, and provide support for meetings as needed.
  • Serve as the primary day-to-day liaison with the company’s outsourced IT provider.
  • Submit, monitor, update, and follow up on support tickets through the outsourced IT vendor’s ticketing system to ensure issues are addressed promptly and appropriately.
  • Escalate technical issues to the outsourced IT provider when additional expertise or administrative access is required and coordinate through resolution.
  • Maintain accurate records of company IT assets, including laptops, monitors, peripherals, access cards, and other assigned equipment.
  • Track equipment assignments, returns, replacements, and available inventory.
  • Assist with ordering, receiving, organizing, and deploying IT equipment and supplies.
  • Perform routine checks of printers, conference rooms, and other shared office technology to identify and resolve issues proactively.
  • Document common troubleshooting procedures, equipment configurations, and recurring IT processes.
  • Assist with other technology and office systems projects as assigned. Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of experience in IT support, help desk, desktop support, technical support, or a similar hands-on technology role preferred.
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field preferred; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting Windows-based laptops and common business applications.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and common workplace technology.
  • Experience troubleshooting printers, peripherals, audiovisual equipment, and conference room technology.
  • Experience working with an IT help desk or ticketing system.
  • Ability to diagnose basic technical issues independently and determine when escalation is appropriate.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly when managing equipment, user access, and multiple open support requests.
  • Strong customer-service and communication skills with the ability to support employees with varying levels of technical proficiency.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and systems access responsibly.
  • Ability to prioritize competing requests and follow issues through to resolution.
  • Comfortable working independently while coordinating closely with an outsourced IT provider. Physical and Work Requirements
  • This is a hands-on, hybrid position based in Four Inc.’s Herndon, Virginia office.
  • Ability to move, set up, and connect laptops, monitors, docking stations, printers, and other office technology.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry IT equipment weighing up to approximately 30 pounds.
  • Regular movement throughout the office may be required to provide employee and conference room support. Temporary Assignment This position is a temporary assignment intended to provide hands-on IT and technology support based on current business needs. The duration and schedule of the assignment will be communicated at the time of hire and may be adjusted based on business requirements.
