Responsibilities The AWS Cloud Engineer Junior is responsible for operational support, maintenance, automation, and continuous improvement of the enterprise AWS platform. This role helps ensure the health and stability of cloud services through proactive monitoring, Terraform-based infrastructure management, AWS platform administration, ServiceNow-based change/release practices, and delivery of cloud infrastructure solutions that enable business and application teams to operate securely and efficiently.

  • Cloud engineering and operations: via automation and other means, implement platform-related AWS resources including certificates, keys, storage, compute, network resources, IAM/access controls, and operational logging.
  • Infrastructure design and deployment: support private and public cloud patterns, networking, connectivity, storage, virtualization, and access control for enterprise AWS environments.
  • AWS networking and hybrid connectivity: support VPC, subnet, routing, firewall, Direct Connect/VPN, Transit Gateway, and hybrid connectivity patterns that integrate AWS with existing customer networks.
  • Infrastructure as Code and scripting: use Terraform, Python, AWS CLI, SDKs, and enterprise CI/CD tools to automate repeatable platform capabilities and support applications across the DevOps landscape.
  • Performance metrics: monitor, establish, and report key performance indicators that promote success factors for the cloud platform and broader software portfolio.
  • Risk, audit, and compliance: manage audit requirements, remediate findings, communicate risks, and support compliance across AWS platform services.
  • Disaster recovery: implement, support, and test disaster recovery plans for AWS platform services and DevOps tools.
  • Change/release management: use ITIL practices and tools such as ServiceNow to improve operational discipline, change control, release quality, and service efficiency.
  • Customer enablement: partner with business, application, security, operations, engineering, and architecture teams to deliver secure, resilient, compliant, and cost-effective AWS solutions. Technical requirements
  • 3+ years AWS public cloud experience, preferably in enterprise or financial services environments.
  • Experience with AWS technologies including backup and restore, disaster recovery, networking, security groups, network ACLs, troubleshooting, operational logging, storage, compute, and access control.
  • Experience with AWS network design including VPCs, subnets, route tables, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect/VPN connectivity, firewalls, security groups, and cloud security constructs.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting production AWS deployments and operationalized cloud projects.
  • Demonstrated experience with AWS automation and coding technologies including AWS CLI, Terraform, Python, SDKs, and CloudFormation where applicable.
  • Experience with Terraform deployments using GitLab, GitHub, or comparable enterprise CI/CD and SDLC tools.
  • Experience working with security, operations, engineering, platform, and application teams to deliver complete AWS solutions.
  • 3+ years of experience in enterprise software development lifecycle management.
  • 3+ years of experience in software development, build/release management, and change/incident management.
  • 2+ years of systems administration experience.
  • Experience creating and maintaining operational runbooks.
  • Participation in Agile/Scrum best practices and methodology.
  • Achieved one public cloud Associate-level certification, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect
  • Associate, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator
  • Associate, or equivalent. Additional responsibilities
  • Deep knowledge and experience in software support or development.
  • Banking or financial services experience.
  • Intermediate understanding of industry, cloud, and AWS concepts and services such as XaaS, IAM, IaaS, serverless, disaster recovery, DevOps, server, storage, and networking.
  • Ability to be flexible, adapt to changing priorities, and work under pressure with a calm demeanor.
  • Self-starter who demonstrates initiative and can work independently with limited supervision.
  • Effective collaboration skills across organizational disciplines and strong verbal, written, presentation, and technical documentation skills.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect
