Recreation Aide (Outdoor Rec)

Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation. This position is considered Flexible. This position is guaranteed 0 hours, but has the potential to work up to 40 hours per week. This position is not eligible for benefits. Duties Performs and/or assists other recreation assistants or specialists in the operation and maintenance of indoor and/or outdoor recreational facilities. Types of duties include but are not limited to the following: records attendance; takes reservations and payment for trips and tours, Fam Camp, and RV Storage lot; notifies participants of schedule changes; arranges for equipment or tools, charging them out to participants, and checking them for condition on their return; decorates community or neighborhood centers or recreation centers for special events, activities, or parties; checks the condition of and corrects deficiencies in indoor and outdoor recreation facilities and areas, tools, and equipment to ensure safety of operability; posts announcements of scheduled activities and answers inquiries about item, place, transportation, or other matters related to activities scheduled; takes inventory of authorized recreation supplies and equipment; and helps with group activities which require more than one staff monitor, performing specifically assigned tasks. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Practical knowledge of recreational activities, rules, and procedures. Ability to safeguard and handle cash and skill in the use and maintenance of various recreational equipment and facilities are desirable; however, no experience is required. Must possess a valid state driver's license. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). This is a drug testing position. The incumbent is subject to random drug testing for drug use. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
