Summary About the Position: The position will be located at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army. Duties

  • As senior recreation specialist, you will provide guidance and technical assistance to recreation specialist and NAF business operations manager.
  • You will serve as a contractor officer representative (COR) to provide guidance and monitor the MWR contractor's performance in support of USARCENT/ASG-Kuwait MWR-wide programs.
  • You will develop a promotional strategy for MWR events to ensure conservation of non-appropriated and appropriated funds for these programs as they fit into the overall objectives and goals.
  • You will establish and monitor performance standards for subordinates. Basic Requirement for

GS-0188 POSITIONS Degree: Bachelor's or graduate (or higher level) degree in general recreation, or one of the appropriate fields of recreation such as outdoor recreation; recreation and parks leadership; wild land recreation management; natural resources recreation; youth recreation; public, urban, or community recreation; special populations recreation (e.g., senior citizens, institutional, etc.); or physical education. OR Experience that demonstrated the ability to apply the principles of one or more specialty areas of recreation. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising, or evaluating community, industrial, outdoor, institutional, or other recreational programs. Planning, establishing, or evaluating a recreational curriculum for junior college or higher academic levels. Instructing in the principles and techniques of recreational program planning and management. Serving in a leadership role in the programs and activities of local, regional, and/or national recreational organizations. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the specialized experience listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) managing the operations for a community, industrial, outdoor, institutional, or other recreational programs; 2) applying evaluating techniques to solve complex issues and management problems in relation to recreation service support; AND 3) providing technical and policy expertise regarding recreational programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communications Facilities Operations Management Planning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
