Summary About the Position: This position is located in the Pharmacy Department at Naval Health Clinic Oak Harbor, WA. The incumbent will dispense drugs prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners and provide information to health practitioners and patients about proper usage of medications. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Duties

• Prepare, compound, and dispense pharmaceuticals for patients of all ages.
• Prescribe medications as authorized per command-approved protocols.
• Interview patients to assess for drug allergies and past adverse medication reactions.
• Screen for drug interactions and review pertinent laboratory results, when necessary, as part of the prescription verification process.
• Conduct medication reconciliation, review the prescription profile for redundant therapies, and discontinue medications with remaining refills when appropriate.
• Document pharmaceutical care activities in the medical record as appropriate.
• Inform, educate, and counsel patients about their drug therapy in order to maximize proper use of medications to improve therapeutic outcomes. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Pharmacist: Education: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirement above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0660 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status. Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, a territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia. (Note: You must attach a copy of your license.) Medical Requirement: Must be able to distinguish basic colors. Experience: One full year of professional pharmacy experience (equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or above) which includes dispensing medications, monitoring drug therapy, and providing medication counseling to patients or healthcare practitioners. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
