Area of teaching and research: second language education. The Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa is located on the ancestral territories of the Algonquin people, in the heart of the nation’s capital. With more than fifty professors, it offers an exceptional intellectual environment for its students, researchers and professors. This recruitment reflects the current Faculty of Education’s strategic plan, which emphasizes social and ecological justice, well-being, and excellence and innovation in teaching and research. Overall duties: The overall duties of the position include, in varying proportions: a) teaching activities; b) scholarly activities demonstrated through research, literary or artistic creation, or professional activities; and c) activities related to service to the university community. The specific duties for this position are associated with directing the Professional Development Program (PDP), and the coordination of the Teacher training in technology education (Edutek). Collaboration with the Francophone and Anglophone sectors of the Faculty is an important dimension of the position. Term: New replacement position for a 2-year contract, from January 1st, 2027, to June 30th, 2028. Salary: The salary scale for an Assistant Professor begins at $99,377 (as of May 1, 2025). Requirements:
- Education: Ph.D. in Education or equivalent in a field related to the position
- Work experience: Excellent program management skills. Demonstrated ability to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels in an interdisciplinary collaborative context. Candidates must also demonstrate the skills and openness needed to deliver courses in hybrid and online formats. Teaching and research experience in second language didactics. Assets: skills in entrepreneurship, pedagogical innovation, and partnership development. Passive knowledge of English is essential. Full French-English bilingualism is considered essential.
