Job Title Systems Engineer- Pathology Scanners Job Description In this role you have the opportunity to develop and maintain pathology scanner solutions as part of Philips Digital & Computational Pathology (DCP) product portfolio. In a world with increasing challenges for cancer diagnostic procedures and quality of patient care, Philips DCP strives to be number one in empowering Pathologists with Digital Pathology Solutions via the best Pathology scanners, Image Management System, workflow, and Image Analytics solutions available. This helps pathology laboratories and pathologists to work more effectively, leading to higher quality diagnosis and as a result better patient care. Our team leads the system engineering discipline that provides technical leadership to development and maintenance of our pathology scanners. We work on a constant stream of innovative solutions for our users. At the same time, we aim to optimize life cycle management and service practices for our install-base. The Scanner Systems team consists of 11 top professionals, leading the system engineering activities related to our pathology scanners. You will routinely work with our external partners and suppliers who contribute to our scanner portfolio while internally interfacing with our software and testing teams, as well as our multi-disciplinary supporting functions. • Exploration of the design: the realization, integration, testing, and debugging of specific components, understanding and communicating consequences of the design and architecture.
• Work with our external partners and suppliers towards scaling up the production of our pathology scanners.
• In case of technical challenges, perform hands-on systematic debugging and analysis, define next steps, draw conclusions and present them to senior system engineers and developers.
• Setup, script, and perform product experiments while driving data collection, analysis and interpretation of the results. Answer questions by using appropriate statistical techniques on available data.
• Develop and maintain software tools used for development, testing, or manufacturing purposes.
• Deliver input in the planning process to the project leader.
• Keep up-to-date with new technology developments.
• Drive activities and seek opportunities for continuous improvement. You're a right fit if:
• A Masters degree, preferably in either (applied) Physics, Electrical engineering, or similar.
• At least 3 years of experience as a scientist, system engineer or designer, preferably within the medical industry.
• Strong affinity with optics, mechatronics, electronics and software disciplines.
• Strong affinity with embedded systems, scripting (in Matlab, Python) in Linux to perform tests towards technical investigations, and hands on experience with hardware components.
• Hands on experience with algorithm realization in image or signal processing
• Self-starting capabilities and a pragmatic mindset, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate complex multidisciplinary technical issues.
• Solid understanding of system-level design, verification, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
• Strong communication skills and soft skills to create alignment with internal and external stakeholders. Compensation & benefits Doing meaningful work should come with fair, transparent rewards. The base salary range for this role is € 61,185–€ 101,976 . We determine pay within the range using objective factors, like the skills the role requires, your relevant experience and the responsibility you'll have in this role, alongside internal equity and local market considerations. This role is eligible for incentive , with your rewards linked to KPIs/company results .
