Summary This position is located in the DEA Caribbean Division, Santo Domingo Country Office in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Duties As a Supervisory Intelligence Research Specialist (Group Supervisor)), your typical work assignments may include: Plans and directs the activities of staff in the collection, evaluation, production and dissemination of drug law enforcement intelligence. Oversees and plans the operations of an intelligence program with worldwide implications. Assesses unforeseen developments, new phenomena, and difficulties encountered. Initiates, plans, and evaluates broad and comprehensive research and analysis programs, procedures, and policies. Prepares and presents briefings to high-level federal, state, and local law enforcement representatives and to foreign dignitaries in regards to difficult, complex, and controversial drug trafficking issues. Performs the administrative and human resource management functions relative to the staff supervised. Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff members. May be required to testify during career as an Intelligence Research Specialist. Assignment Information: Length of Tour: The initial tour of duty for this assignment is three (3) years. Employees are limited to a maximum of five years of service in an overseas assignment. Rest & Recuperation: 2% Post Differential: 15 % Danger Pay: 15% Relocation Incentive: Tier 4 Foreign HTF Relocation Incentive: This position is eligible for a relocation incentive. To qualify for a relocation incentive for foreign HTF offices, an employee must sign a service agreement committing to a specified period of employment at the new duty station, measured in years, not to exceed four years. The incentive consists of annual payments of a specified percentage of the employee's rate of basic pay (as defined by 5 CFR § 575.202). The specified percentage and the number of annual payments are determined on an office-by-office basis at the time the foreign office is designated as a HTF office. DEA pays the relocation incentive in an annual lump sum payment to the designated employee at the commencement of the "approved" DEA-174 period and once the employee has established a residence in the geographic region of the HTF office. Refer to DEA's Hard-to-Fill Office Policy July 1, 2026, Payment of Relocation Incentive (2.c). Employees should contact the Foreign Administrative Support Section prior to completing the Relocation Incentive Service Agreement as additional instructions may apply for service beyond the initial three-year tour. Applicants applying for the GS-14 must meet the following requirements: Have at least one full year of specialized experience that is at least equivalent to work performed at the GS-13 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following:GS-14: Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 Federal grade level performing such duties as providing direction and leadership to a multi-agency staff engaged in the collection, analysis, evaluation, production, and dissemination of drug law enforcement intelligence in support of drug law enforcement activities; and performing preliminary research, analysis and evaluation of raw intelligence data for segments of large research projects and studies.
