Posted Job Title Clinical Research Coordinator B Job Profile Title Clinical Research Coordinator B Job Description Summary The Division of Rheumatology is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to work as part of a team managing an observational investigator-initiated study of rare rheumatic diseases. This role involves frequent interaction with patients in inpatient and outpatient settings at multiple clinic locations. The Clinical Research Coordinator B (CRC B) position requires a high degree of organization, flexibility, and clinical research judgment within a fast-paced and dynamic environment where priorities may shift quickly based on patient and physician availability, clinical status, and time-sensitive study requirements. will work in a highly collaborative team environment with other research coordinators, a lab manager, program manager, and investigators to help advance the research mission of the Division and University. Coordinate patient-oriented clinical and translational research projects within the Division of Rheumatology. Position will manage study activities including subject recruitment, data entry, subject visits and follow-up, and regulatory documentation. Work directly with study physicians, other research staff, and patients. Help advance the research mission of the Division and University. Job Description Job Responsibilities Actively plan and implement inpatient and outpatient pre-screening, screening, and recruitment strategies; and regularly evaluate the effectiveness of these strategies in meeting recruitment targets. Review clinic schedules, inpatient lists, and medical records of a large volume of patients with upcoming clinic visits, obtain investigator feedback, contact potential referring physicians, approach potential participants in the clinic or by phone. Prepare for and conduct participant visits including coordinating specimen collection with collaborators, conducting consent discussions, collecting data from participants and medical records, and coordinating with investigators to ensure completion of case report forms in a timely manner Monitor participant retention, study adherence, and protocol compliance, and implement strategies to support engagement and minimize loss to follow-up. Coordinate with collaborating Penn labs to obtain and transport biospecimens; log, track, and store biospecimens. Perform sample pulls. Participate in regular study-related meetings and communications with team leadership, collaborators, and team members. Create and present data reports and meeting presentation materials highlighting recruitment and retention. Complete resulting action items in a timely manner. Maintain study documentation including but not limited to manual of operations, standard operating procedures, data collection forms, and the consent form. Coordinate, organize, complete, and maintain source documents, case report forms, regulatory documents, and participant binders in accordance with ALCOA-C. Enter data in electronic data capture systems. Perform data QC and address queries. Position Contingent Upon Funding Qualifications Bachelor of Science and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Preferred: Previous experience in a clinical research environment. Outstanding organizational and time-management skills, exquisite attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities including planning for longer-term tasks are all essential for this position. The candidate must be comfortable communicating with diverse sets of stakeholders. P ractical experience coordinating the day-to-day activities of clinical research projects; outstanding communication, writing, and interpersonal skills; ability to identify common challenges, and brainstorm creative ideas to problem-solve emergent issues; demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as independently; ability to work flexible hours; possess working knowledge of the Title 21 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), International Conference of Harmonisation (ICH) and Good Clinical (Research) Practice (GCP) Guidelines. Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, and experience with databases such as REDCAP and LabVantage are preferred. The ideal candidate has the duty to understand the role of the CRC as the intersection of study execution, customer service, participant safety, and overall compliance in clinical research. The proper candidate will be expected to have a strong foundation in clinical research regulations and operations through direct experience in the role. Job Location
