Physical Security Specialist

Summary The employee serves as a Physical Security Specialist responsible for ensuring the physical protection of sensitive or classified information, personnel, facilities, resources, or other processes against criminal, terrorist, or hostile intelligence activities at the Remote Delivery Facility and Pentagon Reservation jurisdictional areas. Duties Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: The incumbent serves as a technical authority on security matters affecting the Remote Delivery Facility and Pentagon Reservation jurisdictional areas. Schedules and independently performs a variety of physical security inspections of designated mission essential and vulnerable activities. The incumbent documents findings, prepares reports, briefs responsible management officials, reviews reports of corrective action, and performs follow-up inspections as appropriate. Qualifications In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. You may qualify at the GS-9 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:One year of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-7) requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the positions being filled. Candidates for this position must clearly demonstrate in their resume that they possess specialized experience in 1) applying standardized physical security procedures and operations to perform security assignments; 2) examining security reports for accuracy to provide information on specific physical security requirements; 3) using standard security equipment and devices to ensure proper functioning and identify deficiencies. OR Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related OR You have a combination of specialized experience and education. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Active Duty Service

MEMBERS: Federal agencies treat active duty service member as veterans, disabled veterans, and preference eligible, when they submit, as part of their application package, a "certification" of active service in lieu of a DD-214, indicating the service member is otherwise eligible and will be discharged or released within 120 days from the date of submission..
