The Senior Field Service Engineer is responsible for providing optimal on-site support for confocal and widefield microscope systems. As part of our Field Service team, you support users and research teams in life sciences, work independently, and solve technical problems with a strong customer focus. This position reports to the Area Service Manager and is part of the Field Service Team DACH and working remotely to cover the region the Cologne/Ruhrgebiet and adjacent regions in Germany In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Provide on-site support for confocal and widefield microscope systems, including preventive maintenance, repairs, error analysis, performance verification, and the installation of new systems and upgrades.
- Train users and research teams, share product-specific know-how, and independently prepare accurate service reports, technical documentation, and case updates.
- Collaborate with regional and global Service teams to drive customer-oriented solutions, and work closely with Sales and Application teams to support product demonstrations and trade shows. The essential requirements of the job include:
- A degree or completed vocational training in life sciences, medical technology, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or a comparable technical discipline.
- Multiple years of professional experience in field service or technical customer support for optical, analytical, medical, or comparable electromechanical systems. • ·Business-fluent German and English for customer communication, technical documentation, and collaboration within an international service organization. Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: if applicable for role
- Ability to travel frequently within the assigned Cologne/Ruhrgebiet territory and to other locations as required, including occasional overnight stays.
- A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work safely at customer sites and to handle service tools, spare parts, and system components in accordance with applicable safety requirements.

- Laser scanning confocal microscopy, widefield microscopy, optics, lasers, or image acquisition systems.
- Installation, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of complex microscopy or laboratory instrumentation.
- Customer training, technical knowledge sharing, or mentoring colleagues in a field service environment.
