• Reviews and investigates electronic reported events and all reported events.
• Evaluates and distributes patient data.
• Reviews and ensures adequacy of hospital policies and procedures for risk control and safety.
• Develops and implements investigative, safety, and educational programs to reduce liability exposure.
• Ensures risks are minimized through follow-up on regulatory and insurance survey recommendations.
• Notifies Director of Risk Management of incidents with potential or actual liability.
• Assists legal counsel in litigation preparation, including witness interviews and record review.
• Assists in resolving patient and family complaints.
• Provides risk-related information, support, and training to staff at all levels.
• On-call responsibilities shared with other risk/legal team members.
• Performs other duties as assigned. Education Requirement Bachelor’s degree in nursing, risk management, business administration or a related field Experience Requirement 5+ years of experience in risk management, nursing, business administration, or a relevant area An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. All experience must be paid and in the same related field. Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week. Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted. Certifications & Licensures Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license CPHRM within two (2) years of hire.
