YOUR CHALLENGE: Are you ready to shape Blacklane’s legal and regulatory strategy as a trusted adviser to the business? Join Blacklane’s legal team at the intersection of mobility, technology and international business. As Legal Counsel, you will work directly with the General Counsel and senior leaders on complex commercial, regulatory and employment-law matters shaping Blacklane’s growth across key markets. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will be a trusted adviser to the business and a close partner to the executive team. You will help turn complex legal and regulatory issues into clear recommendations, enabling Blacklane to pursue commercial opportunities while managing risk thoughtfully. The role offers meaningful ownership, international exposure and the opportunity to influence decisions close to the centre of the business. You will:
- Work directly with the General Counsel and other executive leadership as a trusted legal adviser, helping shape commercial priorities and providing clear, pragmatic recommendations on issues that matter to the business.
- Own and advise on a broad range of commercial, technology and partnership matters, working with sales, operations, product and leadership teams to support go-to-market initiatives across key markets.
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial, technology, vendor, partnership and customer-facing agreements, taking matters from initial structuring through to execution.
- Advise on employment-related regulatory risk across Blacklane’s business model, including worker classification, misclassification and emerging European regulatory requirements.
- Provide practical advice on German employment law and cross-border employment matters, including employment documentation, workplace policies and employee relations.
- Support employment and commercial disputes and pre-litigation matters, and manage outside counsel with responsibility for scoping, strategy, budgets and outcomes. ABOUT YOU: You have:
- Successfully completed the Second German State Examination in Law (Zweites Staatsexamen); above-average results are preferred.
- At least three years of relevant legal experience, ideally gained in an international law firm or in-house legal team. We welcome candidates with experience in commercial, employment or regulatory matters, as well as candidates with a transactional practice background in a law firm.
- The ability to analyze complex legal and regulatory issues, identify the risks that matter commercially, and give legal and non-legal stakeholders a clear recommendation and practical path forward. Experience in transportation, mobility, technology or platform businesses is particularly helpful.
- Confidence working with legal and regulatory uncertainty, and the judgment to balance risk with commercial objectives without losing sight of what the business needs to achieve.
- A structured, pragmatic working style, with the ability to manage multiple matters, set priorities and take ownership through to completion.
- Excellent written and spoken German and English, with the ability to communicate clearly and credibly with senior business stakeholders.
- Curiosity about technology, business models and new ways of working, together with the willingness to learn quickly.
- A collaborative approach and the confidence to engage constructively with colleagues across the business, including when the answer is not straightforward. Why this role:
- High-trust role with direct exposure to the General Counsel, executive leadership and important business decisions.
- International scope across a technology-enabled mobility business operating in multiple markets.
- The opportunity to combine sophisticated legal work with practical commercial problem-solving and genuine ownership.
- A broad platform to develop across commercial, regulatory and employment law without being confined to a narrow specialist track.
