About KOHO We’re on a mission to make financial services better for every Canadian. That means no hidden fees, no predatory interest rates

  • just financial products designed to help our users spend smart, save more, and build real wealth. We’re a performance organization with a strong heart: we care deeply about outcomes, and everything ties back to our mission
  • to financially empower a generation of Canadians. At KOHO, we’re not your average 9-5. We believe real impact comes from people who are trusted, empowered, and supported to do their best work
  • without sacrificing their lives to do it. We prioritize work-life integration, not just work-life balance. That means asynchronous collaboration, flexible hours, and a remote-first setup built around autonomy and high trust. KOHO is entering its next chapter
  • leaner, smarter, more AI-integrated. We’re building for impact, not bureaucracy. If you thrive in environments that value clarity, ownership, and bold thinking, you’ll fit right in. About the Role As Senior Product Design Manager, you will lead design across a complex portfolio that combines two very different but deeply connected challenges: helping teams create and grow new customer experiences, and building the systems that allow excellent design to scale across KOHO. You will lead and develop product designers working across zero-to-one, growth, onboarding, and other high-leverage product opportunities. At the same time, you will provide strategic leadership and support to the KOHO Design System team, helping the system evolve as a practical, adopted, high-quality foundation across app and web. This is a role for a design leader who can move fluidly between ambiguity and scale. You will help teams turn uncertain opportunities into clear product directions, design experiments that create real learning, and make thoughtful trade-offs between velocity, quality, customer trust, and long-term experience coherence. You will also understand when a solution should be explored as a local experiment and when it needs to become a reusable pattern that improves the whole product. You will work closely with Product managers, Engineering, Data, Research, Marketing, and other functional teams. As part of KOHO’s Product, Design, and Engineering partnership, you will shape strategy, create clarity across multiple teams, and raise the quality of the experience without making teams dependent on process or central approval. What You’ll Do
  • Lead and develop product designers across multiple teams or a large, complex area, creating the conditions for people to grow, make decisions with confidence, and do exceptional work.
  • Set a clear design direction across zero-to-one and growth initiatives, helping teams move from ambiguous opportunities to compelling product experiences and measurable learning to accelerate KOHO in its mission to be the bank of choice for all Canadians, across app and web.
  • Coach teams through experimentation, using customer insight, research, data, prototypes, and product outcomes to decide what to build, what to test, and what to change next.
  • Balance growth velocity and unit economics with customer value, craft quality, trust, accessibility, and long-term experience health; know when to move quickly and when Coll or clarity cannot be compromised.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Data, Research, Marketing, and other teams to shape strategy, scope initiatives, make trade-offs, and deliver customer value. Respect, understand and incorporate varying perspectives in the work outputs.
  • Represent Design in roadmap, resourcing, timeline, and quality discussions, ensuring design has a meaningful voice from the beginning.
  • Support the KOHO Design System team through strategic direction, prioritization, critique, coaching, and cross-functional partnership, helping the system serve real product needs across app and web.
  • Build the operating practices, feedback loops, and decision frameworks that help teams move quickly, learn continuously, and scale quality.
  • Identify the capabilities KOHO needs as the organization grows and help attract, hire, onboard, and develop the designers and design leaders who will build them.
  • Use AI-enabled tools responsibly to accelerate exploration, synthesis, prototyping, design-system maintenance, communication, and decision-making while applying strong human judgment. Who You Are
  • You have 8+ years experience designing and shipping consumer-facing digital products, ideally across mobile and web, in fintech, financial services, or another complex domain.
  • You bring significant experience leading and developing product design teams (4+ years), including designers working on ambiguous, high-impact, or consequential problems.
  • You have meaningful zero-to-one and/or growth experience. You have helped teams discover opportunities, launch new experiences, improve acquisition or activation, and learn through experimentation rather than relying only on intuition or incremental optimization.
  • You understand growth as a product and design problem, not simply a funnel or conversion problem. You can connect customer motivation, product value, trust, behavior, and business outcomes.
  • You have deep design-systems expertise and have helped build, scale, govern, adopt, or materially evolve a design system used by multiple teams.
  • You operate with strong agency and sound judgment. You can create clarity without waiting for perfect information, make decisions with appropriate context, and know when to involve others.
  • You have expertise influencing product strategy, roadmap decisions, scope, and prioritization through clear communication and customer-centered reasoning.
  • You build strong, trust-based relationships with Product, Engineering, Data, Research, Marketing, and other cross-functional partners.
  • You are an excellent communicator who can create alignment across designers, Product, Engineering, Data, Research, Marketing, and senior leadership.
  • You are comfortable using modern AI tools to accelerate workflows, explore more possibilities, prototype, and increase the scale of your impact while applying sound judgment around privacy and quality.
  • You scale your impact of craft, quality, judgement, AI-leveage, and elevate those you lead and those around you The budgeted salary range for this role is $170,000
  • 220,000 CAD / year. At KOHO, we are dedicated to providing pay transparency to all candidates. Compensation at KOHO is determined through various factors including but not limited to: comparable salary market data within Canada, technical skill assessment, a holistic view of previous work history, and internal pay equity with other KOHO team members.
