The School of Education & Leadership at Hamline University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Education. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in special education, skilled in instructional technology, familiar with Minnesota teacher preparation standards, and committed to culturally responsive and inclusive practices. This position will teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses in special education and contribute to program development, licensure expansion, and partnerships with PK–12 schools. This role also supports alignment of curricular and clinical experiences and collaborates with faculty and staff across the Hamline School of Education and Leadership. Key Responsibilities Teaching ● Teach 24 credits per year, at the graduate and undergraduate level, primarily in special education ● Develop and revise licensure-based coursework ● Design instruction grounded in evidence-based practices, including behavior intervention and data-based decision-making ● Teach in multiple formats (in-person, hybrid, online) ● Supervise teacher candidates in clinical and student teaching placements ● Advise/mentor students throughout their program Program Development & Unit Support ● Contribute to the development of special education licensure areas ● Support dual-licensure pathways and PK–12 partnerships ● Participate in accreditation, assessment, and continuous improvement ● Engage in program data collection, analysis, and reporting Partnerships, Service, and Recruitment ● Build partnerships with PK–12 schools and community organizations ● Support clinical placements and candidate mentoring ● Serve on departmental and university committees ● Participate in unit meetings, training, and recruitment activities Scholarship ● Maintain an active agenda of scholarship or professional practice ● Engage in program evaluation, applied research, and/or grant activities Required Qualifications ● Doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Special Education ● License in Special Education (ABS, ASD, EBD, DCD, OHD, SLD or Developmental Disabilities) ● Minimum of five (5) years of PK–12 special education teaching experience (teacher of record) ● Expertise in evidence-based practices and behavior intervention ● Experience with data-based decision-making ● Experience developing and teaching licensure-based coursework ● Experience working with diverse learners in culturally and linguistically responsive settings ● Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills Preferred Qualifications ● Minimum of seven (7) years PK–12 special education teaching experience (teacher of record) ● Experience supporting students with a range of learning needs ● Experience with behavioral intervention frameworks ● Familiarity with applied or practice-based research ● Experience in teacher preparation or higher education ● Experience with program development, licensure, or accreditation ● Experience with online/hybrid instruction and instructional technologies ● Evidence of scholarship or potential for funded research ● Experience teaching AI literacy and incorporating AI tools into the classroom Please include: ● Cover letter describing your interest in Hamline and the Special Education program ● Curriculum vitae ● Statement of teaching practices and philosophy ● Statement of research or scholarly interests ● Unofficial transcripts of graduate work ● Candidates should arrange for three letters of reference to be submitted, at least one of which should address their teaching experience.
