- Part-time (14 hours per week) one-year fixed term position. Located at the Brain and Mind Centre on the Camperdown campus

- Base Salary $93,345 - $104,515 (pro-rata) + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The School of Psychology are currently seeking a Research Assistant
- Dementia to provide technical and operational support to the Chief Investigator and the team to support the research projects investigating cognitive changes in frontotemporal dementia and associated disorders. Working closely with Prof.Olivier Piguet , the successful incumbent will provide technical and operational support to the Chief Investigator and the team of FRONTIER , the frontotemporal dementia clinical research group, to support research projects investigating frontotemporal dementia and associated disorders. This position involves coordinating multidisciplinary research assessments, carrying out cognitive testing of study participants, participating in relevant meetings and contributing to administrative work in the area. The role may also require home visits at times. Your key responsibilities will be to:
- undertake clinical and cognitive assessment of people diagnosed with dementia (e.g., frontotemporal dementia, Alzheimer 's disease) or healthy older adults
- collect research data, enters/stores in appropriate statistical software, and prepares statistical analysis/reports as required
- ensure that the appropriate ethics applications are lodged in collaboration with the Chief Investigator, or Research Manager and/or Senior Academics
- coordinate the preparation of assessment protocol kits, scheduling of participants, research and prepare drafts for research publications and presentations including preparing literature reviews and carrying out theoretical research to support the overall research objectives. - an Honours degree – in Clinical Neuroscience, Psychology or relevant field
- prior experience working with older people, particularly people with dementia
- knowledge in the cognitive neuroscience of neurodegenerative disorders
- demonstrated experience in carrying out literary searches, and preparing literary reviews for further analysis
- proven experience in developing and working on research projects, including expertise in using research protocols, experimental design, data manipulation and analysis, ethics submissions and grant applications
- strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion
- a current and valid Australian drivers license (desirable).
