Requirements The Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: DDS or DMD from an accredited dental school. Successful completion of an ADA-accredited Advanced Education in Pediatric Dentistry Program (Board Eligible / Certified preferred).
- Licensure & Certification: Current Idaho dental license (or eligible by start date), DEA license, Idaho Controlled Substance Registration, NPI number, and active BLS certification.
- Experience: If applicable, equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, and must be directly related to the functions and responsibilities of the job. Your Essential Duties: Clinical Care & Dental Procedures
- Provides and assures comprehensive, quality-oriented, and cost-effective dental care to a wide variety of pediatric and special needs patients, ranging from compliant patients to those requiring minimal sedation or behavior management.
- Conducts comprehensive, periodic, and limited oral examinations utilizing diagnostic adjuncts (e.g., x-rays, photos, etc.) for routine and emergency care.
- Delivers preventive dental care including prophylaxis, topical fluoride/varnish application, oral hygiene instruction, nutritional counseling, sealants, and construction of space maintainers.
- Performs restorative dentistry (composite resins, crowns, stainless steel crowns, post and core build-ups) and uncomplicated endodontics.
- Provides periodontal diagnosis, scaling/root planing, and limited periodontal surgical procedures.
- Executes oral surgery procedures including simple extractions, surgical extraction of erupted teeth, and limited soft tissue/root recovery impactions.
- Reviews medical histories, consults with primary care providers, diagnoses dental conditions, formulates written treatment plans, and prescribes appropriate medications/anesthetics.
- Sees and treats an assigned patient volume (e.g., 20-30 patients per clinical day/shift) while taking inpatient calls as assigned. Patient Experience & Relationship Building
- Provides compassionate, patient-centered care while fostering strong dentist-patient-parent relationships and encouraging treatment compliance.
- Explains treatment options clearly to patients/guardians, soliciting input and obtaining agreement.
- Delivers exceptional customer service, managing difficult or anxious situations with empathy, listening skills, and diplomatic communication. Interprofessional Collaboration & Supervision
- Works collaboratively with other dental, medical, pediatric, and family practice staff in support of the Integrative Health Home Model.
- Directly supervises and provides guidance to the dental auxiliary team (hygienists, dental assistants, and front desk staff). Administration, Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Maintains accurate, timely patient chart documentation, referrals, pre-authorizations, and lab case follow-ups.
- Maintains a hazard-free environment, immediately reports safety issues, and potentially serves on an emergency response team.
- Complies with all OSHA, HIPAA, U.S. Department of Education (resident/student privacy), and Joint Commission Certification (JCC) standards.
- Participates in the Quality Assurance (QA) program, peer review processes, and staff or committee meetings.
- Maintains professional licensure, credentials, DEA registration, and required safety/infection control certifications.
- Judiciously utilizes health center equipment, supplies, and operating software/systems.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position. Community Engagement & Representation
- Serves as a positive role model and informational source for Heritage Health within the community.
- Participates in health outreach initiatives, community events, and professional associations (ADA, AAPD) to enhance oral health awareness and organizational reputation. Your Success Factors Clinical Expertise:
