Job Summary: We are seeking an individual for the preparation, development and analysis of management accounting information and provision of high-quality support service to the Ireland & UK Business Leader. Tasks will include analysing financial status by collecting, monitoring & studying data, and recommending actions This is a permanent role on a hybrid basis, with one day per week to be worked from our office in Chorley, North West England. It is a wide-ranging role that requires a positive and proactive attitude with the credibility to interact with senior staff and influence decisions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of all financial information and reporting for Ireland and the UK as well as providing financial information, analysis & meaningful business information that will facilitate the achievement of the financial goals. The ideal candidate will have:
- A proven track record in financial management & accounting.
- Part qualified. Ideally CIMA qualified.
- Excellent communication, presentation and management skills as well as technical expertise. Key Responsibilities: Finance
- Take the lead role for all routine month end entries and ensuring that transactions are properly recorded and entered into the accounting system including prepayments, accruals, revenue recognition journals.
- Ensure adherence to corporate finance policies & Company approval matrix.
- Reconciliation of control accounts.
- Working capital management.
- Supporting the Finance Manager and the Finance Assistant where required Reporting
- Deliver accurate monthly and quarterly corporate reporting on time according to the issued timetable.
- Support the Finance Manager in preparing monthly management accounts and annual audit requirements in UK & Ireland.
- Support the Finance manager in the preparation of VAT reporting. Develop and deliver the financial plans as agreed upon by management
- Deliver pro-active and professional financial and decision support to the organisation.
- Produce revenue analysis and P&L monitoring, pricing analysis and performance monitoring to aid planning and forecasting.
- Support the Business Unit managers and Finance Manager in forecasting, pricing and planning. Anticipate business requirements, trends and variances
- Develop action plans to measure and analyse results.
- Initiate corrective actions to minimize the impact of adverse variances.
- Review business performance against forecasts. Improve operational practices
- Create and implement processes to drive sustainable improvements in the efficiency of business processes in the finance function
- Evaluate operational systems and staffing levels, address inefficiencies and develop and recommend policies and procedures to ensure organisational effectiveness. Specialised Skills and Knowledge
- Part qualified (preference would be CIMA)
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and team building skills and comfortable interacting at all levels of the organisation.
- Ability to work under pressure to tight time-scales.
- Good sense of humour, with the ability to create and maintain excellent communications between respective sites and divisions.
- Self-motivated starter, able to instigate and manage change.
- Sound understanding of contracting terms and conditions and the assessment of commercial risk.
- Uphold and enforce an environment of ethical practices.
- Highly computer literate, with particular reference to accounting and management software and their application in a software/hardware engineering and manufacturing environment.
- Broad knowledge of software and information technology markets an advantage Role Requirements
- Part of a global Company, the jobholder may on occasion be required to work unsocial hours to meet contractual and departmental demand.
- Occasional travel may be required. Essential selection criteria:
- Studying towards professional finance qualification
- Experience in key facets of financial management such as developing and maintaining cash flows, working capital management and statutory compliance.
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- A demonstrated past record of working to tight deadlines
- Strong analytical and analytical review skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate the analysis and results to non-finance colleagues
- A demonstrated past record of achieving results
- The capacity to develop internal and external relationships to facilitate cooperation
- Strong written and oral communication skills that support a cohesive and effective workplace
- Highly IT literate with demonstrated experience of introducing and implementing new IT systems Desirable selection criteria:
- Past experience in a commercial environment, preferably software.
- Past experience of systems and process improvement
