For more information, visit: www.aiu.edu.kw Job Summary The Web Developer & Designer / SEO Specialist is responsible for the end-to-end design, development, management, and optimization of American International University’s public website and related web platforms. The role combines web development, professional UI/UX and visual design, content management, SEO, analytics, performance optimization, and ongoing website maintenance. The position is technology-stack agnostic. AIU is not confined to a specific CMS, programming language, framework, or development platform. The candidate may recommend and use WordPress, a custom-developed solution, or another suitable modern technology stack based on maintainability, security, performance, scalability, usability, and institutional requirements. Key Responsibilities Website Development & Management

• Develop, maintain, and optimize AIU’s website and web platforms.
• Manage CMS, integrations, APIs, security, performance, and troubleshooting.
• Ensure responsive, accessible, secure, and cross-browser functionality.
• Maintain code, documentation, configurations, and AIU-owned access.
• Coordinate with stakeholders on website requirements. Web Design & UI/UX
• Create modern, brand-aligned website designs, wireframes, and prototypes.
• Develop responsive desktop, tablet, and mobile experiences.
• Maintain consistent UI/UX, navigation, typography, and visual standards.
• Improve usability based on analytics, feedback, and web standards. SEO & Digital Analytics
• Manage technical and on-page SEO to improve organic visibility.
• Optimize content, metadata, URLs, links, images, and structured data.
• Monitor indexing, crawlability, redirects, broken links, and Core Web Vitals.
• Manage GA4, Search Console, Tag Manager, and SEO tools.
• Analyze performance and provide reports and recommendations. Initial Website Transition
• Lead the transition from the vendor-managed website to an AIU-controlled environment.
• Audit existing content, functionality, integrations, analytics, and SEO.
• Migrate or rebuild required components while preserving quality and functionality.
• Preserve key URLs, SEO value, analytics data, and implement redirects.
• Establish AIU ownership of the website, CMS, code, analytics, and administrative access. Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Web Development, Digital Media, Design, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in website development, web design, SEO, or management of production websites.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating professional web design/UI/UX and production website development capability is required.
• Demonstrated practical experience managing SEO and website analytics for public-facing websites.
• Relevant certifications in web development, UI/UX, SEO, analytics, CMS platforms, or cloud technologies are an advantage.
• Strong website development and end-to-end website ownership skills
• Strong professional web design, UI/UX, and visual-design capability
• Strong understanding of technical SEO, on-page SEO, keyword research, and search performance
• Experience with Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and Google Tag Manager
• Experience with CMS platforms and/or custom website development
• Sound understanding of web fundamentals such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, databases, APIs, and responsive web technologies
• Ability to evaluate and select an appropriate technology stack rather than being limited to one platform
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, documentation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with WordPress or other modern CMS platforms, as well as custom-developed websites.
• Experience migrating a large public-facing website from an external vendor to an internally managed environment.
• Working knowledge of website hosting and cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or equivalent.
• Understanding of DNS, SSL/TLS, CDN, backups, web servers, staging/production environments, Git, and website deployment.
• Experience with SEO platforms such as Semrush, Ahrefs, Moz, or equivalent.
