Job Overview Jensen Hughes is seeking a motivated, strategic, and relationship-driven Manager, Business Development – Healthcare & Emergency Management (HCEM) to support the continued growth of our Healthcare and Emergency Management service line. This role will be responsible for helping develop and execute the business development strategy for HCEM, with a focus on service line management, new client acquisition, expansion of existing client relationships, and the development and management of a strong and sustainable pipeline. The Manager will work closely with HCEM leadership, Operations, regional Business Development teams, Marketing, and other internal stakeholders to identify where we have the greatest opportunities for growth and translate those opportunities into actionable business development initiatives. This individual will help establish target clients and markets, coordinate pursuit and outreach strategies, and ensure consistent follow-through from initial engagement through opportunity development, proposal, close of sale and long standing account management. Our goal is to hire a business development leader who can help strengthen the foundation of HCEM's growth strategy while creating a more consistent and scalable approach to client development. The individual will serve as a key connector between clients, Business Development, and Operations and will help position the full capabilities of Jensen Hughes to support both service-line growth and broader company-wide opportunities. This will be a full time salaried position without commission . Responsibilities:
- Partner with HCEM leadership and Operations to develop and execute business development strategies aligned with the service line's annual growth objectives, market priorities, and overall business plan.
- Proactively plan, coordinate, and support annual and long-term growth initiatives, ensuring clear priorities, ownership, execution, and follow-through.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the HCEM business development pipeline , including leads, opportunities, proposals, anticipated orders, renewals, and strategic pursuits.
- Work closely with Business Development and Operations leadership to evaluate and prioritize opportunities based on strategic fit, client need, timing, probability, and growth potential.
- Drive consistent follow-up on leads and opportunities to ensure opportunities continue progressing through the sales pipeline and appropriate next steps are clearly identified.
- Manage pursuits from Lead to close inclusive of proposal development and scope/fee build up
- Serve as a key connector between HCEM Business Development, Operations (inclusive of pre and post project team), and clients, helping ensure growth priorities are understood and executed across teams.
- Maintain accurate and timely business development information within company systems, including client activity, opportunities, pipeline, proposals, orders, renewals, and other key growth indicators.
- Promote consistent business development processes, tools, and accountability across HCEM to create a disciplined and scalable approach to growth.
- Establish consistent visibility into HCEM business development activity and pipeline performance, identifying trends, gaps, risks, and areas requiring additional focus.
- Create alignment around priority accounts and opportunities, ensuring the right internal stakeholders are engaged at the appropriate stage of the business development process.
- Support a culture of proactive business development within HCEM by helping technical and operational teams recognize opportunities, strengthen client relationships, and effectively engage Business Development resources.
- Demonstrate ownership of HCEM business development initiatives from strategy through execution, while maintaining a highly collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Maintain awareness of healthcare and emergency management industry trends, client challenges, competitive activity, regulatory changes, and emerging opportunities that may impact the service line's growth strategy.
- Clearly communicate the value of Jensen Hughes' services and connect client needs with the appropriate technical expertise, solutions, and capabilities across the organization.
- Develop relationships at multiple levels within key accounts to strengthen Jensen Hughes' position and reduce reliance on individual client contacts. Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred, and/or four (4) plus years’ experience as in business development, account management and people management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred.
- Experience with government contract tracking systems or platforms used to monitor and research federal, state, or local government opportunities preferred.
- Experience working for a professional services firm preferred.
- General knowledge and confidence using computer databases and menu-driven reports.
- Self-starter who works well independently and is self-motivated, with a bias for action.
- Project coordination and organizational skills, attention to detail, and initiative to follow through.
- Consistently perform at a high level in fast-paced and high-pressure environments.
- Work with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
- Exceptional Customer Service and strong listening skills.
- Able to look at things multidimensionally and able to come to a unique and innovative plan or solution if a problem is identified. While this position is fully remote, candidates based in New England, particularly Connecticut, are preferred.
