Job Description About the Department The Technology and Operations function is comprised of five teams of specialists with distinct capabilities: business partnership, technology, operations, risk governance and planning support and services. We work closely together to harness the power of technology to support our physical and digital banking services and operations. This includes developing, centralising and standardising technology systems as well as banking operations in Singapore and overseas branches. Overview of the Role
- Lead and oversee the Credit Administration & Control (CAC) and Loan Operations functions to ensure the effective, accurate, and efficient execution of end-to-end credit administration and control, loan servicing, and operational support activities across Wholesale Banking and other relevant business segments.
- The role is accountable for maintaining a strong control environment, ensuring compliance with Group policies, regulatory requirements, and internal risk standards while delivering high-quality operational services to internal and external stakeholders. The incumbent will drive operational excellence, process optimization, people development, and transformation initiatives to support the Bank's strategic objectives and sustainable growth. Job Responsibilities 1. Leadership and People Management
- Provide strategic direction and day-to-day leadership to the CAC and Loan Operations teams.
- Build a high-performance and customer-centric culture through effective coaching, mentoring, talent development, and succession planning.
- Ensure adequate resource planning and workforce capacity to meet business demands and service level expectations.
- Establish clear performance objectives and regularly assess team performance against agreed KPIs and productivity targets.
- Foster continuous learning, cross-training, and knowledge-sharing within the department to strengthen operational resilience. 2. CAC and Loan Operations Management
- Oversee the end-to-end execution of CAC and Loan Operations activities, including but not limited to facility documentation, conditions precedent fulfillment, limit loading, loan disbursement, maintenance, servicing, prepayment, repayment processing…
- Ensure all transactions and activities are processed accurately, efficiently, and within agreed turnaround times while adhering to relevant policy and procedures.
- Maintain robust controls over credit administration & control activities and loan lifecycle management
- Ensure timely resolution of operational issues, customer inquiries, and transaction exceptions.
- Monitor service quality and operational performance to deliver excellent customer and stakeholder experience. 3. Risk Management and Control
- Maintain a strong operational risk and control framework across CAC and Loan Operations function.
- Ensure compliance with UOB Group policies, procedures, risk governance standards, and local regulatory requirements.
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate financial, operational, regulatory, conduct, and reputational risks.
- Monitor and investigate operational incidents, process breaches, and control weaknesses, ensuring timely remediation and escalation where required.
- Drive a strong culture of risk awareness, accountability, and control discipline within the team. 4. Governance, Compliance and Audit Management
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and audit standards governing credit administration & controls and lending operations.
- Serve as the key liaison for Internal Audit, External Audit, Compliance, Risk Management, Assurance Management and regulatory examinations relating to the department.
- Manage the timely closure of audit findings, management actions, and regulatory issues.
- Conduct periodic reviews of processes, controls, and operating procedures to ensure continued effectiveness and compliance. 5. Operational Excellence and Transformation
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, productivity, service quality, and risk management.
- Review existing processing workflows and procedures to identify opportunities for automation, digitalization, standardization, and process simplification.
- Drive implementation of operational transformation programs and new technologies in partnership with Group and local stakeholders.
- Support the Bank's strategic priorities through active participation in business, regulatory, and technology-related projects.
- Champion a culture of innovation and continuous improvement across the department. 6. Stakeholder and Relationship Management
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders across Wholesale Banking, Personal Financial Services, Global Markets, Risk Management, Compliance, Finance, Legal, and other support functions.
- Collaborate closely with Group teams to ensure alignment with Group standards, initiatives, and operational requirements.
- Partner with business units to improve client service delivery while maintaining robust risk and control standards.
- Provide timely operational support, guidance, and subject matter expertise to internal stakeholders. 7. Management Reporting and Performance Oversight
- Monitor and report key operational, risk, service quality, and productivity metrics to senior management.
- Analyze operational trends and management information to identify risks, opportunities, and improvement actions.
- Ensure departmental performance objectives are achieved in line with agreed service standards and business goals.
- Prepare and present periodic management updates, operational reviews, and governance reporting.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by Management Job requirements Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Professional certifications in banking, risk management, operations, project management, or process improvement (e.g. CFA, FRM, PMP…) will be an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of banking operations, credit administration, loan servicing, and regulatory requirements within the banking industry. Relevant Experience:
- Minimum 12–15 years of banking experience, with substantial exposure to Credit Administration & Controls, Loan Operations, Wholesale Banking Operations, Credit Risk Operations, or Transaction Operations.
- At least 5 years in a senior leadership or management capacity, leading sizable operational teams within a banking environment.
- Proven experience in managing credit administration & controls and the end-to-end loan lifecycle
- Strong track record in leading operational risk management, control governance, audit engagements, and regulatory examinations.
- Experience working with group stakeholders and operating within a matrix reporting environment in an international banking organization.
- Demonstrated success in driving operational excellence, process re-engineering, digitalization, automation, and transformation initiatives
